Our Story
In 1989 Pat and Rose McGovern took the bold step of opening Pats Carpets on the Leitrim Road in Carrick-on-Shannon. Thirty two years later and the business is still going, now in the capable hands of their daughter Breege. Pat had over thirty years experience gained while working firstly in Galway and then Campbell’s Hardware in Carrick-on-Shannon before taking the brave step of going out on his own.
Seven years later their son Fergal McGovern joined the business and helped to develop the enterprise by expanding their product range to include wooden flooring, bedding and furniture.
In 2004, Breege joined the family business. With her background in the hospitality industry she helped to further develop the business with the addition of quality Rugs, soft furnishings and giftware. Together they created a thriving business and reputation for a friendly and professional service, quality products at an affordable price.
Pat semi retired in 2009 while Fergal moved into the coffee industry opening the hugely successful Esquires Coffee House in Carrick-on-Shannon. The baton was passed along to Breege, who took on the day to day running of all aspects of the store.
In 2011 Breege took the brave step of taking over the business and going solo. 2011 wasn’t a great time to take over a business but thanks to the continued support of our many loyal customers Pat’s Carpets & Interiors has continued to build a reputation on providing a personal service, the very best quality, value for money and full after sales support.
Since opening all those years ago Pat’s Carpets and Interiors has become a byword for quality and affordability. It is our years of experience that our customers trust and depend upon as they look for the perfect flooring or furniture for their home.
And it is not just the domestic market, our client base includes commercial and industrial projects including Schools, Housing Developments, Industrial flooring and even carpeting a yacht in Italy!
